The South Carolina Department of Public Safety is stepping up enforcement and awareness of drunken driving this week through the Labor Day holiday, including a checkpoint at the Georgia state line near Jasper County.

The department will work with state and local law enforcement agencies in South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina as part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.

The campaign includes a checkpoint at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 30 on U.S. 17 at the Talmadge Bridge to Savannah.
