Delinquent property notices coming

info@islandpacket.comAugust 23, 2013

The Beaufort County Treasurer's Office is preparing notices for delinquent properties.

The signs notify taxpayers who did not return certified notices delivered in late spring. The signs are affixed to the property for which taxes are owed.

Owners who see these signs on their property have until Aug. 31 to pay their taxes in full; otherwise, another penalty will be added to the amount due.

Property owners then have until Oct. 4 to pay delinquent taxes on their personal property. If they do not, the property will be auctioned away Oct. 7. No payments will be accepted for the delinquent property on the day of the auction.

The Island Packet is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
