The town of Bluffton's finance department won its third award for the year from a professional association of state and local finance offices in the U.S. and Canada.

The department was recently recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association for publishing a report that provides residents, visitors and business owners with "a clear, easy-to-understand summary of the town's financial picture," according to a news release.

The document summarizes town spending, priorities and accomplishments for the year, and explains town services, projects, programs and tax rate.

The department also received awards for its 2012 budget and its 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
