The Port Royal Redevelopment Commission is set to discuss Thursday one of its first potentially significant actions since its revival earlier this year.
The commission will discuss requesting proposals for a branding initiative for the town, according to the agenda.
The meeting will be at 4 p.m. at Town Hall, 700 Paris Ave. Community and municipal groups around Beaufort and Port Royal, such as the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce, have been working on branding efforts for the past year to create specific messages and goals for growth, attracting tourists and creating economic opportunities.
The Redevelopment Commission has been meeting somewhat regularly on the fourth Thursday of every month since the beginning of the year. Most meetings have focused on the group's organization and focus or have been opportunities to partner with other area groups.
Town Council revised membership requirements for the commission to allow for members who do not live in town but have a vested interest in the community or needed expertise to join.
