More than 30 employers are expected at a U.S. Chamber of Commerce job fair for local veterans and military spouses, set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at the S.C. National Guard Armory on Calvary Lane.

Jobs for all ranks and levels of experience will be available, according to a chamber news release.

Companies confirmed to attend the Beaufort event include national corporations such as Bank of America and FedEx; local employers, such as the Bluffton Township Fire District and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort; and state agencies, including the S.C. Department of Public Safety and the S.C. State Transport Police, said Kim Morton, a spokeswoman for the U.S. chamber.

Morton said more companies are expected to confirm attendance in coming weeks. A full list of companies can be found at the U.S. chamber's website -- -- usually about a week before the event date, she said.

The event also will include a free workshop that provides one-on-one mentoring sessions on resumes, job-search tools and interviewing techniques. The workshop begins at 9 a.m. the day of the fair.

The workshop and job fair are part of the chamber's "Hiring Our Heroes" program, which began in 2011 to help veterans and military spouses find jobs.

The program includes the "Hiring 500,000 Heroes" project -- a push from the chamber, the National Chamber Foundation and Capital One to find jobs for 500,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014.

So far, 119,000 hires have been confirmed, according to the U.S. chamber. Some of those have come from the U.S. chamber's 580 job fairs, at which more than 1,200 companies have hired 20,200 veterans and military spouses, the chamber said.
