Town needs to step up on overseeing Republic

info@islandpacket.comAugust 20, 2013

Since waste hauling on Hilton Head Island went to Republic Waste Services, the company has missed my unit more than 25 percent of the time.

I have called them, met the truck to speak with the workers and called our property administrator, but nothing changes. After missing a recent Saturday pick-up, I saw the truck pulling onto the property that Wednesday as I was heading out. After speaking to them, they assured me they would get the garbage. Two cans were filled, and they still picked up only one.

If the governing body wants to know why rats are a problem, consider this as one of the areas of concern. Low bid does not mean high quality service. I am miffed that there are no government controls to see that the contract is properly fulfilled.
