classnotes@beaufortgazette.comAugust 20, 2013

When Coosa Elementary School begins Aug. 19, students at Coosa Elementary School will take the lead as they begin their second year of "The Leader in Me," a three-year process based on Stephen R. Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People." Coosa Elementary began last year teaching students a version of highly effective habits better suited for children. Students learned one habit each month and were given classroom jobs to instill leadership and personal responsibility. In May, community members, parents, and administrators from other Beaufort County schools attended a "Leadership Day" at the school, where students displayed what they are doing to become effective leaders.
