Hilton Head Island High School girls varsity basketball team thanks Piggly Wiggly for support

letters@islandpacket.comAugust 20, 2013

On behalf of the Hilton Head Island High School girls varsity basketball team and staff, in particular, and so many of the school's teams and clubs in general, I would like to thank Dave Martin, the Coligny Piggly Wiggly, and the Shelter Cove Piggly Wiggly for allowing us to raise funds by helping out at their stores.

Dave started the "Bagging for Bucks" program several years ago, and it has evolved into a crucial fundraising opportunity for so many of our teams and organizations. In these days of limited funds, the opportunity that Dave and Piggly Wiggly provide us to raise money is so important in our attempts to provide quality programs at the high school.

In addition, our players learn to work hard and to work together if they hope to meet their goals. At the same time, we hope we provide a necessary service to the Piggly Wiggly stores that will help them be even more efficient during their busiest times of the year. I know that Dave and the staff at both stores make our students feel comfortable and assist them when necessary. It seems to be a win-win situation that would never have happened without the initiative and support of Dave Martin and the staffs at both stores.

Again, our wholehearted thanks goes out to everyone involved in this endeavor, including our generous community, which lends its support so readily to this type of event.
