Bluffton's John Patterson continued his stellar play of late as he and his partner, Beaufort's Rob Simmons, combined to shoot a 7-under-par 65 to join a three-way tie for first Saturday in the S.C. Golf Association's Mid Am Four Ball Championship at Dataw Island's Cotton Dike Course.

Also tied for the lead are the team of Charleston's Bert Atkinson and Surfside's Sammy Truett and the team of Spartanburg's Richard Burgess Jr. and Max Fain of Boiling Springs.

Hilton Head's Marcus Byler and Bluffton's Jeff Wong shot even-par 72.

Burgess and Fain tee off at 11:42 a.m., while Atkinson and Truett and Patterson and Simmons tee off at 11:51 a.m.
