Bluffton Township Fire District receives financial award

The Bluffton Township Fire District was awarded with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the second year in a row.

The District received this award, presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, for its comprehensive annual financial report. This certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, according to a news release.

The award was presented to Deputy Chief John Thompson, who serves in the administrative division, as he has played a crucial role in the district's financial reporting.

The report was judged by an impartial panel with specific focus on whether the financial report demostrated a "spirit of full disclosure," according to the release.

The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
