Thank you to all for third annual Back to School Fun Day

letters@islandpacket.comAugust 11, 2013

The third annual Back To School Fun Day was held Aug. 3 on the Sam Bennett Sports Complex field in Bluffton for our youth in the Bluffton community.

The day was filled with fun (bouncers, water slides), face painting, sack race, hula hoop and dance contest. Laughter. Free food (popcorn, hot dogs and hamburgers), drinks, and giveaways for the entire family. To top it off, we had a self-defense exhibition by Hilton Head Judo & Jujitsu Club, and Beaufort Jasper Hampton Dental mobile unit offered free dental exams. Also there were Walmart Vision Center, the Bluffton Police Department, the Bluffton Township Fire District and "Ms. Lollipop," the clown, shaping balloons and hand painting.

We would like to sincerely thank our sponsors for having such caring and giving hearts. Without their financial support, this event would not have been possible. (Go to for a list.) With their help, we were able to provide not only a day of fun for the entire family, but also free backpacks filled with school supplies to 350 children.

To all who volunteered, we say thank you. This event would not have run as smoothly as it did had you not put in the long hours filling backpacks, cooking, serving food and overseeing the activities for our youth. Together we made a difference in our community.
