  • Season tickets for school athletic events are now on sale for half price through Aug. 30, and may be purchased through Coach Drafts at the high school. Tickets also will be on sale at a school open house Aug. 15. Regular cost for tickets are $80 for adults, $50 for middle and high school students, and $15 for elementary school students. Tickets are valid for all regular season home contests. Excluded are play-offs, jamborees and tournaments. Details: Coach Drafts, 843-322-5574

  • Orientation for new families and "drop-in" for all families is at 9 a.m. Aug. 16

  • Many students at Beaufort Elementary School qualify for after-school tutoring because of the school's Title I Improvement Status. Students may qualify for up to 20 hours of tutoring at a location away from the school. Students may also opt for virtual, computer-based tutoring at home. There is no cost for students to participate, however; students must be enrolled at Beaufort Elementary in grades three-five to participate.The school will hold an informational meeting 5:30-7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the school's cafeteria. Up to 10 vendors will be available to showcase their programs for parents. Vendors will provide information about the services, qualifications and evidence of effectiveness.   • MOSSY OAKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    EVENTS

  • The school will host a meet-and-greet from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 14. The drop-in event is an opportunity for students and parents to visit the classrooms and meet their new teachers. Open houses will be held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26 for pre-K through second grades and Aug. 27 for third through fifth grades. Both events will held in the school gym.

    ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Newly appointed music teacher Jenna Fisher joined teachers from across the country July 8-12 in Charlotte for a World Music Drumming workshop. Fisher obtained her Level 2 certification under the financial support of the Gretsch Foundation. The World Drumming curriculum was created in 1996 by founder, director and author Dr. Will Schmid, aimed at raising students' life skills (listening, respect, cooperation, teamwork and communication) through African, Caribbean and Latin drumming, movement and song, according to a news release.
