Island Recreation Association thanks St. Francis Thrift Shop

letters@islandpacket.comAugust 5, 2013

The Island Recreation Association would like to thank the St. Francis Thrift Shop for its generous donation to our scholarship fund.

The grant will allow us to provide children in our community affected by their family's economic situation the opportunity to participate in our programs. In 2013, our scholarship program provided $90,000 to 250 children. Many families in need are trying to keep their children active, involved and safe to avoid the potential of their making dangerous life decisions. Our scholarship fund allows the children to participate in the sports they love and keeps them involved in our programs and safe before and after school.

We can't express enough how much we appreciate the St. Francis Thrift Shop's support and dedication. Again, we know that in our community, the thrift shop has many choices when it comes to charitable giving. Its support of the Island Recreation Association is greatly appreciated. Rest assured, we will continue to earn that support by serving our community with opportunities for a healthier, happier life for everyone.
