Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island thanks St. Francis Thrift Shop

letters@islandpacket.comAugust 5, 2013

The board of directors, staff and members of the Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island wish to thank the hard-working and dedicated volunteers of the St. Francis Thrift Shop for their assistance with our summer scholarship program. They support many good causes and to receive a grant from their organization is an honor.

This is the second summer that students who are at-risk academically have been able to attend Virtual Summer School due to the generosity of organizations and individuals who have provided scholarships for weeks of summer fun mixed with educational practice that helps prevent the "summer slide."

We are proud of our record of providing quality summer programs for more than 10 hours a day, five days a week for our school-age members. It is the time of year when their parents are usually working harder than ever for our local businesses. Providing children and youth valuable and fun learning experiences is a true gift to our future from the St. Francis volunteers.

Next time you enjoy some shopping at the St. Francis Thrift Shop, be sure and thank a volunteer for all they do for all of us.
