Tucker DeLoach, 12, of Beaufort laughs with his mother, Susan DeLoach, as they fill their plates with food from the buffet at Dukes Barbecue of Beaufort on Thursday afternoon during the grand reopening of the restaurant on Salem Road in Beaufort. Dukes Barbacue of Beaufort was closed in 2009, after 22 years of business, so that co-owner Marlene Harrelson could care for her father. "We just wanted to come home," Harrelson said about reopening the restaurant.

It's back with all the fixings.

Dukes Barbecue re-opened in Beaufort Thursday -- in the same location -- bringing back its ketchup-based barbecue, fried chicken, cole slaw, hash, collards, rutabaga, macaroni and cheese, and livers and gizzards.

The restuarant at 1509 Salem Road closed in 2009 after 22 years of business. Co-owners Marlene and Jamie Harrelson announced in April Dukes would re-open this summer.

They were met with an outpouring of support on social media. By the time they opened Thursday, the Dukes Barbecue Facebook page had more than 1,600 fans --- many of whom posted messages welcoming the restaurant bank, and saying they couldn't wait to eat there again.
