Hilton Head ousts Alabama at Dixie Majors World Series in North Charleston

Hilton Head, after a shaky first inning, rallied to eliminate Alabama, 7-4, at the Dixie Majors World Series in North Charleston.

Down 3-0 in the bottom of the third, Taylor Place fouled off five 3-2 pitches before homering to score JT Marbut and Aaron Facenda to tie the game at 3.

South Carolina added two runs in the fourth and a run each in the sixth and seventh, and Lincoln. Fuller went the distance, allowing only one more run in the seventh. Fuller allowed six hits and four walks while getting three strikeouts.

Place was 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, four RBIs, a run scored and two hit by pitches. Marbut was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, Randy Young was 2 for 4, Facenda was 1 for 3 with two runs scored and a hit by pitch.

Chase Clayton was 1 for 3 with a run scored, Mike Grant was 1 for 3 and John David Reichel was 1 for 4 with an RBI.

Hilton Head plays at 11 a.m. Monday and again at 4:30 p.m. if it wins.
