Tree blocked westbound US 278 Friday morning

Traffic is forced to detour on the shoulder around a tree that fell across the westbound lanes of U.S. 278 on Friday in the construction zone between Simmonsville Road and Buck Island Road.

A fallen pine tree blocked the westbound lanes of U.S. 278 Friday morning between Simmonsville and Buck Island roads in Bluffton.

The fallen tree blocked two lanes for about 45 minutes, and traffic was routed to one lane. As of 10:20 a.m., the tree was removed, Bluffton Police Lt. Tony Charron said.
