Jahaan R. Parker, 35, was killed in a wreck on U.S. 17 in Jasper County Monday afternoon.

Parker, of Chester, Va., was the passenger of a Toyota that was headed south on U.S. 17 when driver Reginald James, 37, tried to make a left turn onto S.C. 315. James failed to yield, and the car was hit by a tractor-trailer headed north on U.S. 17.

Parker died from massive internal trauma, Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls said.

James was treated and released from Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Willie Brown, was not injured.
