info@islandpacket.comJuly 22, 2013

Palmetto Electric Cooperative will sell Palmetto Security Systems, but existing accounts will be served by a new company under the same name.

The security company will be sold Aug. 1 to a new company owned by Marcus McDougall, former vice president of Palmetto Security Systems. The new company will move from the current Mathews Drive location on Hilton Head Island to offices in Riverwalk at 591 Browns Cove Road, Ridgeland. The company can be reached at 1-800-487-2365 or palmettosecurity.org.

The Palmetto Electric board of directors decided to sell the security company in order to focus on the cooperative's core mission of providing electricity, according to a news release.
