Resort's investment in Sea Pines welcome

info@islandpacket.comJuly 21, 2013

While growing up in New York City in the 1950s, a trip to the beach on a summer weekend was an important part of my life.

Although I don't have the precise numbers, I would estimate there were several million people competing for about 200 parking spaces. Distance precluded us from walking or riding a bike, and there certainly wasn't a free trolley service to get us there. Amazingly, my parents figured out that we could always get a parking spot if we got there early enough.

I don't believe that unlimited free parking on someone else's property is one of our constitutionally guaranteed rights.

As a long-time Sea Pines property owner, I am extremely pleased with the efforts of Sea Pines Resort to upgrade its facilities. The enormous investment in Heron Point, the Plantation Club, the Beach Club and Harbour Town provides a much-needed and appreciated boost to our otherwise tired infrastructure.
