Hunting Island swimmers need lifeguard protection

info@islandpacket.comJuly 21, 2013

Three years ago, on Aug. 12, 2010, after a local drowning, I wrote the following in a letter to the editor: "Some events are beyond our control, but standard, accepted practices at water venues across our nation include the expert services of lifeguards. Yet we still don't have lifeguards at Hunting Island State Park."

Now tragedy has struck once again, and three lives have been lost. Yet we still don't have lifeguards at Hunting Island State Park.

Does anyone doubt that lifeguards save lives?
