OTHER Four local organizations have partnered this summer to provide an educational experience for a group of 12 middle school girls. "The Art and Science of Lowcountry Nature" will offer a hands-on experience in art, science and local ecology. Funded by the Hilton Head Branch of the American Association of University Women, the weeklong program combines the resources of the Boys and Girls Club, the Coastal Discovery Museum and the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. The girls were chosen to participate by Kim Likins, director of the Boys and Girls Club of Hilton Head Island. From July 22 to 26, the girls will spend the mornings exploring the beach and salt marshes of the island with Dawn Brut, curator of education at the Coastal Discovery Museum.
