Real per-capita figures tell very different story

info@islandpacket.comJuly 19, 2013

The July 15 editorial cartoon was wrong when it showed a national debt figure for every man, woman and child of $3,279.43 when compared to an average college-related debt per student of $35,200.

A check of the website usdebtclock.org showed the per capita debt at more than $53,000 and growing. The debt per taxpayer stands at $147,990 and growing. Of course, these numbers don't help the cartoonist to make his point.

It makes you wonder where he got the college debt-per-student figure.
