School supply drive planned for next week

Beaufort County residents and businesses are being encouraged to "pack a bus" with school supplies for needy students.

School supplies -- including pencils, paper, notebooks, scissors, glue, crayons, backpacks and calculators -- can be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 25 at the Beaufort-Jasper-Hampton Health Services office at 721 S.C. 170 in Okatie.

The health services office, the S.C. Primary Health Care Association and the Henry Schein Healthy Lifestyles have combined to donate 250 backpacks. Malone's Barber Shop in Bluffton is offering discounted haircuts for customers who donate school supplies.

The Island Packet is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
