BASEBALL

SAND SHARK BASEBALL YOUTH SKILLS CAMP: Who: Players ages 6-12; When: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 17; Where: Richard Gray Sports Complex, Hardeeville; Cost: $80 before Aug. 10 ($100 for late registration and walk-ups). Cancellations before Aug. 10 will receive a $50 refund. No refunds after Aug. 10; Notes: Camp will teach players the fundamentals of the game as instructed by the USC Beaufort coaching staff. Morning session will concentrate on defensive skills, while afternoon session will concentrate on the offensive side of the game. Base running, proper throwing mechanics and other aspects of the game will be included. You will be responsible for providing your own lunch. FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION: What: Registration for Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services fall sports program; Registration deadline: July 17; Notes: PALS will offer flag football for ages 4-7, tackle football for ages 7-14, cheerleading for ages 6-14, fall baseball (Beaufort only) for ages 9-14 and soccer for ages 4-17. CYCLING

PRINCE WILLIAM CYCLE TOUR: What: 62-mile or 35-mile bicycle ride through the country roads of Prince William Parish; Where: Ride begins and ends at Buckfield Plantation in Yemassee; When: 8:30 a.m., Oct. 26; Cost: $35 per rider through Oct. 25, $45 day of; Notes: This is not a race. The annual ride is sponsored by the Yemassee Revitalization Corporation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to restore and beautify downtown Yemassee. An after-ride lunch will be served on the grounds of the plantation. All riders must be at least 16 years of age. Early registration for the event guarantees each rider a T-shirt, cue sheet, snacks, lunch and beverages. HILTON HEAD PREP SUMMER CAMP: Who: Boys, rising 4th to 8th grade; When: July 29-31; Times: 9 a.m. to noon; Where: Hilton Head Preparatory School; Cost: $100; Note: Hilton Head Prep football coach Kevin Wald will lead the camp. The camp will introduce basic fundamentals, including throwing, catching and agility, as well as an introduction to basic strength and conditioning. Daily competitions will be held. PAWS FOR VETERANS TOURNAMENT: What: Fundraising tournament for Paws for Veterans, which provides service dogs for injured veterans; Where: Moss Creek Golf Club; When: July 22, 8 a.m.; Notes: Paws for Veterans rescues dogs from shelters in Florida and trains them to be service animals for active duty service members, combat injured veterans, and veterans with PTSD and TBI throughout the country. BEAUFORT CITY MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP: Where: Fripp Island Resort; When: July 27-28; tee times start at 8 a.m.; Cost: $150 per person; Registration Deadline: July 22; Format: 36-hole individual medal play; Notes: There is a senior flight for men 60 and older. Players will be flighted after first round. Open to all Beaufort County residents. Price includes both rounds, range balls, cart fees, prizes and lunch both days. HHIAGA 27-HOLE CHALLENGE: What: Two-person team event; Where: Callawassie Golf Club, Okatie; When: 9 a.m., July 28; Cost: $125 per person; Registration Deadline: July 24; Format: 9 holes better ball, 9 holes alternate shot, 9 holes two-man scramble; Notes: Field limited to 60 teams.
