Turtle Crawl race set for July 19

July 16, 2013

The 6th annual Turtle Craw road race, which raises funds and awareness for the Fripp Island Turtle Patrol, is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Both the 1-mile run/walk and 5K race start at 8:30 a.m. at the Fripp Island Beach Club. The entry free for both races is $25, which includes a T-shirt, a ticket for a prize drawing and food. Families can enter five runners for $100.

Registration will be from 5 yo 7 p.m. Thursday at the Beach Club. Race-day registration will start at 7 a.m.

T-shirts are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Also, "Adopt Skully" dolls will be available for sale. The stuffed turtles are being sold to raise money for sea turtle rescue and are named for a stranded loggerhead rescued from a sandbar by the team in late June. The turtle was taken to the S.C. Aquarium Sea Turtle Hospital in Charleston for care.
