Beaufort police are warning residents to lock their vehicles, even if parked in their driveways, after two teens were charged with stealing from unlocked cars Thursday.

The suspects, both 19, are from Beaufort and Lady's Island. One is charged with conspiracy and breaking into a motor vehicle; the other with conspiracy and an open-container violation.

Police received a report of thefts from unlocked vehicles in Pigeon Point shortly after midnight Thursday.

Residents said two suspects were driving a blue-and silver-pickup truck. The truck and suspects were found in the Beaufort Downtown Marina Parking lot with the stolen property, according to police.

Both suspects have been released from the Beaufort County Detention Center, one on his own recognizance and the other after posting a $5,262 bond.
