A new traffic light at U.S. 278 and S.C. 170 has begun flashing, and according to a Beaufort County news release it will be fully operational next week.

Drivers coming off westbound U.S. 278 will see a flashing red signal, while those driving both directions on S.C. 170 will see a flashing yellow signal.

Normal red-yellow-green operation should begin Monday. S.C. Department of Transportation requires new traffic signals to flash for a few days for safety and notification.

A traffic study showed the intersection needed a traffic light.
