The Lowcountry Heat missed out on several chances to wrap up their first-round American Legion playoff series Wednesday night, falling at Conway, 6-5.

Post 185, which still leads the series 2-1, left 12 runners on base. The Heat had the bases loaded three times with less than two outs and failed to score.

Grant Youmans had a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Heat up 5-3, but the Lowcountry squad failed to score any more runs after loading the bases. Conway used the change of momentum to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh and take the lead for good.

Conway pitchers issued 11 walks.

Randy Young had two hits and an RBI for Post 185. Sean Holmes also had two hits, and Caleb Martin had a double and two runs.

Young started and took the loss for the Heat, who committed five errors.

Post 185 will have another chance to close out the best-of-five series at 7 p.m. Thursday in Conway. Post 185 manager Chris Seelbach hasn't determined who will be his starting pitcher.

"I really don't know right now who it's going to be," Seelbach said. "And it's probably going to be the whole kitchen sink at them."
