Fripp Island hosting fishing tournament this weekend

The hottest fishing of the summer will blast off with the Fripp Island Fireworks Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The tournament starts with registration from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, followed by a captains' meeting and Lowcountry cookout. All fisherman are invited.

Fishing starts at 6 a.m. Saturday and weigh-ins close at 6 p.m.

There will be awards for first and second place for the largest kingfish, as well as first place for the largest dolphin, wahoo and Spanish mackerel.

Spectators are welcome to join the excitement at the weigh-ins while some of the largest fish of the season are brought in to the Fripp Island Marina.
