Nick Gilliam was the first of the more than 80 golfers in the field to register on Monday for this week's Players Amateur at Berkeley Hall Club in Bluffton.

The Players Amateur enters its 14th year as one of the most respected amateur golf tournaments. The winner will earn an exemption into the 2014 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing.

Numerous Players Amateur alumni are playing on the PGA Tour, including Ben Curtis, Rickie Fowler, Lucas Glover, Bill Haas, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Kyle Stanley, Camilo Villegas and Nick Watney.
