Rash of car burglaries reported in Shell Point

A series of car break-ins occurred overnight Saturday in the Shell Point area.

More than 12 vehicles were broken into, and all are believed to have been left unlocked since there is no sign of forced entry or damage to any of the vehicles, according to a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Small electronics, cash, wallets and a handgun were reported missing.

There is no information on a possible suspect. Residents should lock their cars and remove any valuables. Any suspicious people or activity can be reported immediately by calling the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
