BASEBALL

SAND SHARK BASEBALL YOUTH SKILLS CAMP: Who: Players ages 6-12; When: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 17; Where: Richard Gray Sports Complex, Hardeeville; Cost: $80 before Aug. 10 ($100 for late registration and walk-ups). Cancellations before Aug. 10 will receive a $50 refund. No refunds after Aug. 10; Notes: Camp will teach players the fundamentals of the game as instructed by the USC Beaufort coaching staff. Morning session will concentrate on defensive skills, while afternoon session will concentrate on the offensive side of the game. Base running, proper throwing mechanics and other aspects of the game will be included. You will be responsible for providing your own lunch. BEAUFORT COUNTY PALS

FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION: What: Registration for Beaufort County Parks and Leisure Services fall sports program; Notes: PALS will offer flag football for ages 4-7, tackle football for ages 7-14, cheerleading for ages 6-14, fall baseball (Beaufort only) for ages 9-14 and soccer for ages 4-17. Registration for football and cheerleading ends July 10. Registration for baseball and softball ends July 17. Registrations will be accepted until each center is full. FISHING

BEAUFORT SPORTFISHING AND DIVING CLUB MEETING: When: July 11; Where: Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club, Lady's Island; Time: Social at 6:30 p.m., meeting at 7 p.m.; Notes: This month's topic with be on King Mackerel and Barracuda. Capt. Tom Ogle will discuss live baiting and give his presentation on rods and reels. Capt. Frank Gibson will explain the use of planers and spoons, along with bed and ballyhoo. PAWS FOR VETERANS TOURNAMENT: What: Fundraising tournament for Paws for Veterans, which provides service dogs for injured veterans; Where: Moss Creek Golf Club; When: July 22, 8 a.m.; Notes: Paws for Veterans rescues dogs from shelters in Florida and trains them to be service animals for active duty service members, combat injured veterans, and veterans with PTSD and TBI throughout the country. BEAUFORT CITY MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP: Where: Fripp Island Resort; When: July 27-28; tee times start at 8 a.m.; Cost: $150 per person; Registration Deadline: July 22; Format: 36-hole individual medal play; Notes: There is a senior flight for men 60 and older. Players will be flighted after first round. Open to all Beaufort County residents. Price includes both rounds, range balls, cart fees, prizes and lunch both days. LOWCOUNTRY DISTRICT BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA GOLF CLASSIC: When: 10 a.m., Thursday, July 25; Where: Old Tabby Links at Spring Island; Format: Four-person Shamble; Cost: $225 per person, $900 per team, $150 hole sponsor, $1200 Eagle Scout sponsorship; Notes: Golfers will get a boxed lunch and on-course beverages, an awards reception, a gift bag and prizes.
