A 13-year-old Okatie boy was pulled from his family's pool and revived Wednesday after a mishap.

Beaufort County Sheriff's deputies and EMS were called to the Spring Island home at about 3 p.m.

The boy's grandmother told deputies her grandson was playing a game in which he went underwater to see how many laps he could swim while submerged, according to a Sheriff's Office incident report. The boy passed out while under water, the report said. He was pulled from the pool about 20 seconds later, according to the report.

"Lifesaving techniques" were performed before EMS arrived to find the teen conscious and alert, according to the report.

He was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
