A fire early Thursday destroyed the Sportsman's Club hunting cabin at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.

About a dozen fire fighters from the air station, Parris Island and Burton worked for nearly an hour to extinguish the fire, which was reported about 4:30 a.m.

The cabin was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries, according to air station Public Affairs Officer Capt. Jordan Cochran

No surrounding structures or property was damaged, Cochran said. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

Cochran said the cabin, valued at less than $100,000, was a complete loss.
