Beaufort County's preservation calendar contest opens

info@islandpacket.comJuly 3, 2013

Local photographers have until 5 p.m. on Sept. 3 to submit photos for Beaufort County's 2014 preservation calendar.

Photos of oak trees, shrimp boats, fish and other marine life, Lowcountry homes and beaches, waterways and inlets will be judged for entry into the calendar contest. Winning photos will be used in the 2014 calendar.

The 2014 edition takes its inspiration from the county seal, which was designed in 1976 by the late Hilton Head Island artist Lee Payne. The calendar's theme is "The Sky's the Limit."

No fewer than three and no more than five photos can be submitted for consideration in each category. Photos must be taken within Beaufort County, and at least one must be taken from land preserved through the Beaufort County Rural and Critical Land program.
