Customers crowding out people launching boats

info@islandpacket.comJuly 2, 2013

On the subject of tour companies operating from public boat landings: Besides the reasons that have been stated previously, the other issue is that the customers who are parking at these sites are taking up valuable parking spaces that are supposed to be used for trucks with trailers.

Between the people who are out on a tour and those waiting to go out on the next trip, most of the trailer spaces are filled. This only adds to the frustration of boaters who depend on access to these ramps to launch, especially on the weekends when even without the extra cars, parking is at a premium. Until this issue is resolved, I highly recommend that a Beaufort County deputy be stationed at the launch site to avoid the inevitable confrontations that are going to arise.
