Lt. Col. James Stone was recently given command of the Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 during a ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.

The squadron, also known as the Sweathogs, held the change of command ceremony June 21. Lt. Col. William Kohmuench previously led the squadron, which provides essential ground support to the F/A-18 Hornet squadrons of Marine Aircraft Group 31.

While overseas, that support includes communications, weather, motor transport, security and aircraft and ground refueling. Their most recent deployment was to Combat Outpost Shukvani, Afghanistan.

Kohmuench will report to the United States Naval Academy as a battalion officer.
