Three men face drug charges after Port Royal police say they found them with marijuana last week in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Kenneth Black, 24, Quinton Smalls, 22, and Aaron Atkins, 21, have been charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana within a half-mile of a school or playground, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, and unlawful carry of a pistol.

Police said they began checking the area after continuous complaints of suspicious activity and drug sales in the apartment complex's parking lot.

On June 25, police charged the three men after searching two cars. During a search of Black's car, police said they found marijuana packaged for sale and a large sum of cash. Marijuana and a 9 mm gun were found when a second car was searched, police said. Black also had an active arrest warrant from Ridgeland.
