Bluffton-Jasper VIM names Lavery executive director

Bluffton-Jasper County Volunteers in Medicine has named Karen Lavery executive director of its new clinic at 1 Burnt Church Road.

Lavery, a Bluffton Town Council member, will be responsible for "developing, implementing, and directing all phases of the clinic," according to a news release from the organization.

Lavery is a past president of Bluffton Rotary and a graduate of Hilton Head Island/Bluffton Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program. She spent a 20-year career in banking, finance and insurance. Lavery also has served on several local nonprofit boards, including the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society, Programs for Exceptional People and the Hilton Head Recreation Center.
