Don't blame problems on law that isn't in effect

info@islandpacket.comJune 25, 2013

I couldn't help but notice the latest missile from one of the right-wing bomb throwers.

The contents of his letter indicate he is retired, and therefore I assume he receives Medicare and Social Security benefits. These are both Democrat-sponsored government programs that most seniors could not live without. It is very important to make sure every retiree knows that the Affordable Health Care Act does not change any benefits for Medicare recipients.

In his anger over a personal problem with a previous employer, he rips into the health care law and the man most responsible for restructuring the health care problems this country is facing. His accusations against the president, repeatedly calling him a liar, are simply another example of right-wing vitriol gone mad.

The simple fact is that the Affordable Health Care Act, or as the letter writer terms it, Obamacare, does not take effect until 2014. Let me repeat: Obamacare does not become effective until 2014. I don't know how much plainer I can make it.

One more point: The Affordable Health Care Act is the law of the land. I suggest everyone wait until the train leaves the station before you complain about the engineer or conductors.
