A Ridgeland woman was arrested for possession of cocaine Friday after Beaufort County Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle in which she was riding.

Alisa Shonder Cannick, 42, was charged with possession of cocaine and released from the Beaufort County Detention Center on her own recognizance.

According to the incident report, a deputy on patrol saw a black Jeep Cherokee in the area of Milledge Village Road and Broad River Boulevard making a turn without signaling. The deputy stopped the vehicle.

Cannick, a passenger in the vehicle, said she had a small bag of cocaine in her purse. A search turned up a small, clear, plastic bag; a small, green bag; and a rolled-up dollar bill, all containing a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.
