Witness not cooperative in shooting investigation

Witnesses are refusing to cooperate with Beaufort County Sheriff's Office investigators who were called to a report of shots fired at a St. Helena Island home Saturday.

The shots were reported about 4 p.m. on Hidden Oaks Drive, according to the incident report. Two 9 mm shell casings were found on the front porch near the door.

A woman with a small child who owned the home first told deputies nothing had happened, according to the report. She later told deputies she had an argument with a man and pushed him outside the home, where he fired his gun. She would not say who the man was or provide further information.

A search for a suspect and damage was unsuccessful. The shell casings were collected for evidence.
