Beaufort Ospreys-Lowcountry Heat baseball game rained out

ccox@islandpacket.comJune 20, 2013

The Lowcountry Heat's American Legion baseball game against the visiting Beaufort Ospreys was postponed Wednesday night due to inclement weather.

The two teams were scoreless in the bottom of the second inning when a fierce lightning bolt flashed near the Hilton Head Island High baseball field. The umpires immediately sent both teams to their dugouts before the game was called minutes later.

The game has been moved to next Thursday, June 27, at 7 p.m. The Heat were originally scheduled to host James Island that evening but that team recently cancelled its season.

The game will start over in the top of the first inning instead of resuming from Wednesday's stopping point.
