Hope Haven of the Lowcountry grateful for Women in Philanthropy grant

letters@islandpacket.comJune 17, 2013

Hope Haven of the Lowcountry is most grateful and excited to receive a grant from Women in Philanthropy.

Their generosity will allow Hope Haven to start an evidence based prevention project -- Girls Circle. The goal of this project to not only educate, but also to empower girls and young women to increase their positive connection, strengths and competence skills. Girls Circle groups will be implemented by Hope Haven in middle schools, high schools and Boys and Girls clubs in southern Beaufort County.

Hope Haven is most grateful to further expand their prevention programs against physical and sexual abuse. Helping young victims recover from the trauma of abuse is the most important job of Hope Haven's professional staff -- preventing physical and sexual abuse is a goal we would all like to see happen.

This project, Girls Circle, is a big step in the right direction to realizing that goal. From our staff and the entire board of directors, we thank Women in Philanthropy for caring about our young people and our future.
