Thank you for your support in our daughter's death

letters@islandpacket.comJune 17, 2013

We wanted to say thank you to the Bluffton and Hilton Head Island communities for all that you did for us as we dealt with the death of our daughter, CPT Sara M. Knutson Cullen. Your kind words and most of all your prayers helped us a great deal.

The list of people we could thank seems endless, but we especially thank those who attended Sara's Memorial Mass at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, the Veterans of Sun City and all those who sent cards or just gave us a hug. Many of you we did not know, but you were touched by Sara's story and we appreciate your support.

We hope that Sara will be remembered as a wonderful officer who had a bright career ahead of her, but most of all that she was a kind and compassionate person who always had a smile for everyone. We have received many letters from people who only met her once, but who felt that they should write because of some kindness she had shown to them. She was adventurous and lived life to the fullest in her too short 27 years. She loved to fly, she loved being a soldier, and she loved serving her country.

We know that Sara is in heaven and so we will celebrate her short life and someday the tears will turn to smiles. Please pray for us as we continue to walk this path. Thank you again. God bless America.
