S.C. 170 road work could cause Hargray outages overnight

info@islandpacket.comJune 11, 2013

Hargray will be moving fiber optic cables along S.C. 170 overnight to make way for road widening, and officials expect brief service interruptions as a result.

Several thousand customers near the road have been notified there could be momentary drops in cable service beginning at midnight, although there are no planned outages, vice president of operations Chris McCorkendale said.

McCorkendale said there's a possibility service could be affected any time crews are required to move and splice fiber optic cables.
