Memory Matters thanks members of Bear Creek Golf Club

letters@islandpacket.comJune 10, 2013

On behalf of the families we serve, our staff and board of directors, I would like to thank the members of Bear Creek Golf Club for selecting Memory Matters as a charity for which they raised funds.

May was a busy month for them with three tournaments to raise money: May 6 was the Bridge Club tournament; May 16 was the Ladies' Golf Association tournament; and May 17 was the Men's Golf Association tournament. Thank you to all who participated, made donations and so generously gave of their time. We also would like to thank PGA professional Brett Heisler and assistant pro Kirk Ridgely for their help.

Fundraising events are labor intensive, and much credit should go to the team members that organized these events, which raised more than $4,000 for Memory Matters. A special thank you to Diane Myers, chairwoman, Sue Harter, Terri Ozley, Cathy Nairne, Jo Nuce, Sharon Miller and Judy Peters for their leadership and hard work.

Memory Matters is a local nonprofit organization that offers a dementia-specific day care, support and resources for caregivers, as well as education and advocacy for the community (www.memory- matters.org).
