The Jasper County School District Board of Trustees will hold public hearings this month to seek information on student achievement.

The meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Mondayin the Hardeeville campus auditorium, and June 24 in the Ridgeland campus auditorium.

The public will be asked to share views on the following topics: How to deal with students who constantly misbehave; whether students should be required to maintain a "C" average to participate in athletics and extra-curricular activities; providing a safe, secure and engaging school environment; parental involvement; and ways to boost student performance on state tests.

Those unable to attend can email comments to district public information officer Shellie Murdaugh at SMurdaugh@jcsd.net.

The Island Packet is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
