A car rear-ended a school bus carrying 29 Whale Branch Elementary students home from school late Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the car was injured. No students nor the bus driver were injured, according to a school district spokesman.

The extent of the driver's injuries were not immediately known Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened while the bus was stopped near the intersection of Highway 17 and Interstate 95 south of Yemassee.

It was not clear whether the bus was unloading students at the time of the crash.
